School community
Text: Small, family-like environment. GLA International is a family. Classes are small, with a limit of 25 scholars per class. Scholars keep the same advisor for all four years. They form lasting, trusting relationships with advisors, teachers and mentors. Scholars’ families participate in the daily life of the school, and are welcomed as partners in their children’s education. All programming from grades 9-12 builds up scholars’ sense of belonging and community.
Safety and Respect
Text: Commitment to supporting all scholars. GLA International rests on a foundation of safety and respect. Scholars abide not only by a Code of Conduct, but by a Code of Character, stressing leadership, respect, and integrity. The school’s values are reinforced in every aspect of school culture, from Harambee and Morning Meeting to school-wide Positive Behavioral Supports and intervention. The school community celebrates differences and commonalities with culturally affirming events and traditions.
Scholars
Our scholars will come from all over the city of Philadelphia. Scholars who have attended Global Leadership Academy K-8 schools will be able to continue their globally-focused, leadership-based education at GLA International. All neighborhood teens, and any Philadelphia youth who are looking for a safe, rigorous, futures-focused school will also be welcome to apply and attend GLA International. Conveniently located in the Logan section of the city, on multiple SEPTA routes, GLA International is a city-wide school.
