Founding Coalition

GLA International was founded in 2023 by a staff of experienced educators, business leaders, and community organizers in Philadelphia. Under guidance of Dr. Naomi Johnson Booker, a transformational leader (former regional superintendent at the School District of Philadelphia, and current charter school CEO), this group developed the GLA International high school model. This high school model replicates several key features of Global Leadership Academy schools which serve children and families from all over Philadelphia: high expectations, culturally affirming culture, accountability, and hands-on Global Studies.
